LeadYouth Mentor Paid Internship

We Are Closed to Internship Applications for the Fall 2023 Semester

LeadYouth is growing, and that means we’re looking for more Youth Mentors to join our team.

At LeadYouth we believe in the potential of high school and university students to connect with learners and impact children around the world.

 

This is a paid internship position open to High School and College students in all regions and timezones. Pay starts at $17 USD per hour.

 

Our interns help to develop course content and mentor students. Because students learn best when they can form real relationships with mentors, Youth Mentors must commit to at least a 6-month internship with 2-4 hours of work required each month. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Run monthly mentoring calls with students in the LeadYouth program

  • Follow a curriculum to teach public speaking, communication, leadership, and emotional intelligence skills to students aged 8 to 14

  • Interact directly with small groups of students via video conference

  • Communicate directly with parents of learners as needed

  • Identify opportunities for program improvement and make suggestions to the team

  • Maintain schedules and documentation

  • May be asked to provide direct mentorship to students one-on-one via video conference

  • May be asked to support the development of course material, video scripts, and pre-recorded videos

  • Other special projects as assigned

 

Required qualifications:

  • Must be able to speak and write English at an advanced level

  • Must be 15+ at the start of the internship 

  • Has a passion for coaching and inspiring children

  • Comfortable using Zoom and equivalent video conferencing software

  • Able to work independently and remotely under the direction of an Adult Mentor

 

Preferred qualifications: 

  • Experience mentoring young people as a tutor, camp counselor, senior member of a club or volunteer organization, or other equivalent role

  • Participation in debate team, Model U.N., or other clubs and teams requiring public speaking skills

  • Video recording and editing skills 

  • Proven leadership skills including but not limited to: Club President, Team Captain, Eagle Scout, Gold Award in Girl Scouts, Camp Counselor, Band Section Leader

In addition to your pay and the satisfaction of helping students reach their highest potential, you will receive training and monthly feedback.  Plus, you’ll get direct mentoring and guidance from Adult Mentors, including our founder Sarat Chakravarthi. Youth Mentors who deliver quality work for at least 6 months will receive a letter of recommendation to help you apply to college or apply to your next job as well as free access to our full library of lessons on leadership, personal growth, and communication, and first preference if you choose to come back and work for LeadYouth after you graduate.
