Many students spend their summers doing nothing but relaxing. While we all need a little time off every now and then, it’s important to balance their vacation time with activities that will not only lead to personal growth, but will help them succeed in the next school year.

Leadership and public speaking summer camps for middle schoolers are a great way to boost your child’s confidence and skills. With so many different camps out there, it can be difficult to know which one is right for your child. We’ve compiled our top three choices to help narrow down your options.

LeadYouth’s Online Summer Camp for Middle Schoolers

Not everyone has the time or resources to travel to a fully immersive summer camp. A virtual camp is a great way for your middle schooler to continue learning, while also leaving time for internships, jobs, and hobbies. LeadYouth’s Communication and Leadership Summer Camp is held virtually on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12pm to 1:30pm through June and July.

During this camp, your child will learn the art of public speaking in a fun and supportive environment. Through engaging activities, interactive workshops, and hands-on practice, they will build confidence and fluency in expressing their ideas with clarity and conviction. Our mentors will help your child develop leadership qualities such as teamwork, decision-making, problem-solving, and effective communication.

National Student Leadership Conference

The National Student Leadership Conference is a fully immersive experience that combines traditional summer camp activities with active learning opportunities. Designed to allow students to experience potential careers, this camp teaches leadership skills and teamwork to students who are aiming for college.

Students must apply to be able to attend this prestigious camp, and must be at least 11 years old for the middle school programs. According to their website, the National Student Leadership conference “provides students with the opportunity to experience life on a college campus, develop essential leadership skills, and explore a future career through exciting simulations, exclusive site visits and interactive meetings with renowned leaders in their chosen field.”

Model UN Institute Summer Camps

Does your child participate in Model United Nations? The fun doesn’t have to end when school lets out! The Model UN Institute hosts summer camps that allow students to further develop their public speaking and debate skills. These camps even offer private coaching for middle schoolers who are really serious about their career in Model UN.

With day, overnight, and virtual summer camps available, you and your child can choose the option that’s right for you. In-person summer camps are hosted at some of the most prestigious universities in the United States, allowing your child to get a real taste of life in college.

These programs are perfect for students who want to work on developing the confidence to share their ideas in class and collaborate on group projects. This summer camp allows them to build meaningful connections and be a leader in their school and future career.
